		Description:
A lumber puncture, colloquially known as a spinal tap is utilized as a diagnostic procedure to analyze cerebrospinal fluid collected from the lumbar vertebrae for traces of meningitis, and in rarer cases used to relieve intercranial pressure.  It is a simple, and relatively painless procedure, although spinal headaches may occur.
