Screening mammography is a x-ray examination of the breast on individuals that are asymptomatic (no symptoms) towards breast cancer. The purpose of a screening mammography is to detect breast cancer when it's physically too small to be felt. It is recommended that women begin receiving screening mammograms every one to two years at age 40, and annually at age 50. The process of screening mammography involves taking images from an above and angled viewpoint to efficiently locate the breast lump.
